FITNESS REDEFINED
Charles Darwin defined fitness as an organism’s ability to successfully pass its genes onto the next generation.
Fitness is specific to each person, plant, animal, bacteria, etc. and how successfully they navigate their environment.
Darwin’s definition is context dependent. The chimpanzee is an excellent ape, but it would be a terrible fish.
What is your context? Are you a professional or a professional athlete? Professional athletes are paid for their physical work. Professionals are paid for their mental work.
At NYLO, we use an opportunity cost framework to take into account:
Who you are. Where you are physically. And the complexity that comes with a full and constantly changing schedule.
The average American spends 7 hours sleeping and 10 hours working. That leaves only 7 hours per day for: errands, social obligations, bodily functions, and maybe a hobby. As a society we are generally pressed for time, and nowhere more than the heart of the city that never sleeps.
design your environment
We take a comprehensive look at who you are: physically, psychologically, and socially and use the concepts from behavioral economics and evolutionary psychology to design the most optimal and efficient: physical practice, nutrition strategy, and lifestyle environment to allow you to create YOUR fitness. EX NYLO.
